A new crop of flagship phones have just been released, and with new flagships comes new top end CPUs. Which also means that it’s time for AnTuTu to update it’s list of fastest CPUs. The Snapdragon 820 has claimed the top spot away from Apple’s A9 chip. Which can be found in the LeEco Le Max Pro, LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models, Sony Xperia X Performance, and Xiaomi Mi 5. Also if the rumors are true it will also be in the HTC 10 that will launch soon.
While the Snapdragon 820 is currently on top, we have to point out it just edges out Apple’s A9 chip from last year. The lead might not last for long, as Apple’s A10 chip is sure to be out this year with the new iPhone models. Coming in third is Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 that will be in some models of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Then we have Huawei’s Kirin 950 which is currently in the Mate 8, and if rumors are true will be in the P9 when it launches soon.

Something else to take away from the results is how powerful the Snapdragon 650 and 652 are. Both are above the Snapdragon 808 and edging up on the 810. Meaning that midrange phones are about to get a lot faster and quicker.
Next up was GPU performance where the Snapdragon 820 with it’s Adreno 530 slaughters the competition. Apple’s A9 chip comes in second but it’s not even a close race. In third we have Samsung’s Exynos 8890 barely behind the A9, then the Snapdragon 810, and trailing far behind is the Kirin 950. The GPU has a big impact on the overall experience. Not only gaming but with high end phones pushing into QHD resolutions more and more. You really need a powerful GPU to push all those pixels, and keep the user interface running smoothly.
