AT&T to Test Super-Fast 5G This Year

By the time you read this line, you could download a whole TV show on 5G.

AT&T has announced plans to test 5G technology, the next-generation of super-fast wireless connectivity. We’re talking speeds 10-100 times faster than today’s average 4G LTE connection.

AT&T is collaborating with Ericsson and Intel to test 5G in its labs first.Outdoor tests and trials will follow this summer. With 5G, customers will see speeds measured in gigabits per second.

To give you an idea of how fast that is, at 1 gigabit you can download a TV show in less than 3 seconds! 5G will help new experiences like virtual reality, self-driving cars, robotics, smart cities and more become a reality.
