Huawei had some great surprises for us back at CES. One of them being a phone from their sub brand Honor. The Honor 5X while an impressive phone for the $199 price. Packing a Snapdragon 615 CPU, 2GB of ram, 16GB of storage, 1080p display, 3000 mAh battery, 13MP camera, dual SIMs, microSD card slot, a metal body, and fingerprint scanner. Sadly would launch with Lollipop and not the latest Android 6 Marshmallow.
Good news is that we’ve now heard they are planning to upgrade to Marshmallow with Huawei’s EMUI 4 skin. As well as promising regular security updates. Something which is becoming more and more important these days. Now we don’t know the timeline for the upgrades, or if the security patches will be monthly. Still it’s nice to know that such an affordable phone won’t be forgotten. Making it an even better bargain. You can preorder the 5X now from Amazon, Newegg, or the Honor site.
