While Google has been busy indexing the world’s information, they haven’t stopped there. Google has been indexing apps for awhile now, and looks like they’ve found an interesting way to put that to use. Before now they’ve only been able to show you information about the apps. However now they are going to be able to show you content that’s from within the actual app itself. They have indexed over 100 billion deep links into apps, including popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, Airbnb or Pinterest.

For example soon if you’re say looking for a hotel. You’ll be able to see results directly from the HotelTonight app in your search results. Soon they will start allowing you to stream apps directly from a Google search. Instead of having to download the app you’ll have a stream button next to the app in the search results. This will only be if your WiFi connection is fast enough though, and is using new cloud technology they’ve been working on.

So far the selection is limited to a small group of apps like HotelTonight, Chimani, Daily Horoscope, and New York Subway. However they are expected to add more in the future. I haven’t seen it pop up yet for me so I guess it’s not quite live.
