Fossil has been working on an Android Wear smart watch for awhile now. They’ve shown it off some in the past, and now they are ready to release it. They’ve got more than just a watch though. Apparently they are taking on the fitness tracking world as well. The Fossil Q series includes Q Reveler, Q Dreamer, Q Grant, and the Q Founder.

The Q Founder is the most interesting of the bunch. It uses an Intel CPU instead of the common Snapdragon, and runs Android Wear. It’s definitely a nice looking watch, but so far there is no release date. It only says it’ll be available for the holiday shopping season, while the others will be available on October 25th. It does come at an attractive price though at $275.

One thing I notice is the lack of the flat tire, which is always a good thing. However in previous images you could clearly see that it had one. I guess we’ll have to wait for a round of hands on images, before we know for sure if they found a way to remove it.

Like many others Fossil also include a proprietary app with special functions like Q Activity, Q Notifications, and Q Curiosity. Also it’s got what looks like 2 buttons and a crown. What could all these controls do? Are they all for show or could they hook into Fossil’s proprietary apps.

Q Activity: This built-in fitness tracker lets you know how many calories you burned and also provides results in a curious way to make your activities a bit more fun. No need to ditch your favorite fitness apps; this tracker can connect seamlessly to Google Fit™, Health, UP by Jawbone® and UA Record™ by Under Armour.

Q Notifications: These notifications are your cue that a social media update, important call or meeting awaits. Filter by just the contacts or apps you care about – or get them all. It’s up to you.

Q Curiosity: Cue your curiosity! These notifications alert you that it’s time to break free from routine, look from a different angle or try something new in your community. These activities will ignite a new perspective, open up your creativity and leave your brain feeling refreshed.

Fossil has seen the trend of smart watches, and now they are one of the first watch brands with their very own. It’s great to see traditional watch brands embracing the smart watch revolution, and not getting left behind.
